Description
On a rainy Sunday in February, two men are executed with a machine gun in a car on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen. The murder weapon's past leads the investigation towards the rocker milieu, and police assistant Lars Winkler suddenly has plenty to look at.
Journalist Louise has traveled to Vietnam to track down her biological mother. Here she hears about a Danish company with a patent for a new – and not entirely harmless – variety of rice. When Louise's informant is shot, she flees home to Denmark and her apartment, where there has been a break-in. Someone, besides the police, is looking for her.
The solution to Slotsholmen's double murder is at a standstill, and the police are turning their attention to the victims' past. An unsolved murder of a young woman from the 1980s throws another smokescreen over the macabre case, and Lars must use all his ingenuity in trying to get to the bottom of a swamp of greed for money and organized crime that has threads into political circles and involves the upper echelons of society.
